Using these Procedures

This manual provides Child Protection Procedures compliant with the current version of Working Together to Safeguard Children. The content has been written in a style intended to be accessible to a wide range of users, including those from all the agencies that comprise the London Safeguarding Children Partnership, the voluntary sector, and members of the public.

The manual has been organised with the Core Procedures in the most prominent place. These chapters explain the actions that must be taken when there are concerns about the welfare of a child.

The Safeguarding Practice Guidance section provides more detailed information on identifying risks and responding to children who have been abused in specific circumstances. All chapters contain links to additional information and statutory guidance where appropriate.

This manual will be updated twice annually, in September and March. A summary of the changes can be accessed via the 'Amendments' button on the Home page. You will also find the details of the next planned manual update in this section.

If you would like to suggest a change to the procedures manual, discuss your suggestion with your agency's representative on your local safeguarding partnership in the first instance.

Users can print individual chapters FOR REFERENCE. The entire manual CANNOT be printed. The manual is updated regularly; therefore, we advise that any hard copies not be kept for reference and that users develop the habit of consulting the online version.

There is a print icon displayed at the top of each chapter.
